Total Boat Marine Surveys Ltd. is owned and operated by Kelly Thody, in Sidney BC.
Kelly is a life long avid boater growing up between Alert Bay, B.C. and Victoria, B.C. where he lived aboard from the age of ten. He has cruised, delivered, crewed and raced power and sail boats sized from dinghies to 110 feet from Alert Bay to Hawaii and the Caribbean. Kelly has a diverse resume in the professional marine industry. He's worked as a diesel and outboard mechanic, sailmaker and rigger, and has managed large fleets of charter and private yachts.
In 2011 Kelly entered a 2 year apprenticeship with NAMS-CMS Allan Betton. In 2013, Kelly became a NAMS Global Certified Marine Surveyor himself. and then started Total Boat Marine Services. Kelly regularly attends courses and seminars to keep on the edge of developements in the marine industry and to reinforce proper maintenance and repair techniques.
In his spare time Kelly can usually be found kicking fenders at local marinas, racing keel boats at various venues or off riding bicycles.
